Now, granted, rap music isn’t really my cup of tea.

But a few years back he had a hit song that everyone, especially my teenage neighbor, seemed to have been playing at full volume 24 hours a day.

Anyway, the song was about seizing opportunity when it comes around, and the chorus of the song (the exact words of which, I must admit, I had to Google because my neighbor is no longer a teenager and he wasn’t available to ask) contains these sage words of wisdom:

You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime, yo

Truth be told, I don’t agree that opportunity comes only once in a lifetime.

However, I do believe some opportunities only give you one shot, and what matters is whether you take that shot or “miss your chance to blow”.

I also truly believe, if you have an opportunity right now to change your life and do something that will make you happy, that will make your family happy, that makes your life more meaningful – then you have to take it.

So that’s my challenge to you today:

Is there an opportunity in your life that you’ve been hesitating to take? If so, and you know it would change your life, I urge you to take it.

Because opportunities don’t wait around forever.

Either you use them, or you lose them.
