If you want to know how you can start your own spring cleaning, here are some tips to help you get started:
Review Your Goals
Every year you have a new set of goals that you want to achieve. You’ve set this goals to help you further your career and keep your focus throughout the year. Looking back how many of your goals were you able to cross off your list? How many are still in your list?
If you were able to achieve a couple of your goals so far; good job! If not, don’t worry about it. There’s still plenty of time for you to start doing something about your goals and figure out how you can achieve them by the end of the year. But if you’ve achieved all your goals already then start setting new ones.
Refresh Your Goals
Now that you’ve had some time thinking about what you’ve accomplished so far, it’s time to start thinking about solutions.
1. If you’ve accomplished all your goals
Take a deep dive of everything. Figure out why you were able to accomplish all the goals you’ve set for the year and keep doing them.
2. If you haven’t accomplished any of your goals.
Did something happen to make you lose your focus along the way? Were the goals too unrealistic? Part of goal setting is setting goals that you can achieve while still pushing yourself.
3. If you’ve accomplished some of your goals.
Keep doing what you’ve been doing and work hard to achieve those goals. You’re in the right track and all you need is consistency.
Once you’ve finished reviewing your goals, you need to check if the goals you’ve set will help you get to the position where you want to be in your career..
This means you need to think about your goals and see if these goals are still in alignment with your career goals. If you feel that some of these goals no longer makes sense to what you want, don’t hesitate to remove it from your list.
Commitment
Climbing the career ladder requires dedication and hard work. Yes, it’s true that you need to be dedicated in order to accomplish the goals that you have and work hard in order to get the results that you want. But even those aren’t enough, the most important thing that you need is commitment.
Setting new career goals is easy but being committed s hard. You can’t deny that overtime, it’s easy to forget your goals because life and work happens. But if you stay committed to your career goals, there’s no doubt that you can achieve what you want to achieve. As said by John Locke, “It is a process of committing to a path, taking action, noticing our results and then making gradual shifts in our approach until it works.”
Meeting your career goals is not easy. It requires a lot of dedication, hard work, and commitment. You may not accomplish every goal that you’ve set, but always remember, there’s a new day ahead so don’t lose hope and keep working on your goals.
