4 Simple Tips to Be More Active on Your Interview

2 min read · By admin · August 17, 2012

Being Active in the InterviewIn an interview, the goal of an interviewer is to know the applicant better and vice versa. The interview is the perfect opportunity for you to know more about the job and, most importantly, the best chance for you to prove that you are the perfect candidate.

If you want to prove that you are the best person for the job, you must be active during the interview. As an applicant, aside from what’s written on your resume, what you say during the interview is the only basis the interviewer has in determining your worthiness for the job.

If you are more passive than active during the interview, you can say good-bye to your chances of getting hired. So, here are some strategies to help you learn how you can be more active during the interview.

1.Listen Attentively

When you are in an interview, you need to have complete focus. Do not let anything distract you from what the interviewer is saying. All other worries or appointments should be out of your mind during this time, and your only priority should be to listen what the interviewer has to say.

You also should listen not only with your ears, but with your eyes. Look for signs that can give you hints on what to say or what not to say.

2.More Questions

By listening attentively to your interviewer, this will lead to you having more opportunities to ask questions. When you ask questions, it not only shows that you are listening, but it also shows that you are interested in the company. You should also ask questions that will help you decide whether you really want to work for them.

3.Be Positive

When you feel that the interviewer is showing signs that he or she does not like your answers, you need to remain positive and upbeat with your responses. If you start giving answers in a negative tone, this may give the wrong impression to your interviewer.

4.Relax

In an interview, where a clear mind and focus are needed, nervousness can ruin everything. It will be difficult to impress an interviewer with sweaty palms and a shaky voice. Relax and be yourself during the interview—this will help you ace your interview and get the job.
