Overwhelmed at Work? Try This 10-Minute Reset

1 min read · By admin · March 25, 2025

You don’t need a whole day off to reset. Sometimes, all it takes is 10 intentional minutes to clear the fog and get back on track.

Step 1: Step Away (2 Minutes)

Disconnect from technology and physically distance yourself from your workspace. Take a few deep breaths and, if possible, step outside briefly — even a short break from your screen can significantly improve focus and reduce stress hormones.

Step 2: Brain Dump (5 Minutes)

Grab a notepad and write down everything on your mind — tasks, concerns, distractions, random worries. Don’t organize it, just get it out. This externalization process clears mental clutter and restores the clarity you need to make good decisions.

Step 3: Select Your Top Three (3 Minutes)

Look back at your brain dump and circle the three most pressing or meaningful tasks. These three items guide your work for the rest of the day. The goal is practicality over perfection — pick what actually matters most right now.

The best way to handle the storm is to pause, breathe, and take one small, intentional step forward. For deeper strategies on managing your workload and job search stress, explore our full library of career resources.
